Speaker: Landscape preservation expert Glenn Stach
Landscape preservation expert Glenn Stach (Biltmore Village, Asheville) will share perspectives and sensibilities of analysis and design within America's most coveted historic landscapes. From battlefields to historic gardens, Mr. Stach will share experiences and best practices for designing with the genius rooted in place of various historic landscapes. Projects highlighted during this talk include work at Presidential Homes, Civil War and Revolutionary War Battlefields, Historic Estates and Gardens, and sites important to indigenous and African American culture.
About: Glenn Stach is a preservation landscape architect and planner with many notable projects working with and stewarding historically valuable landscapes. His professional work preserves and makes visible the legacy of the historic landscape and those who have influenced it over time. Based in Asheville's historic Biltmore Village, his firm, STACH pllc's approach to preservation and design is heavily influenced by Mr. Stach's early employment with the National Park Service at Antietam National Battlefield, and honed under tutelage with the best contemporary minds in landscape preservation. His volunteer pursuits include participation in multiple national and state boards, including tenure with the Cultural Landscape Foundation, and Chair of the NC State Licensure Board. Stach also provides strategic planning services to national non-profit stewards, positioning their work to support future markets and public interests.
